Research Interests:
Social and cultural history of early modern England, with a particular interest in popular music (ballads, psalms, dance, instruments, musicians, bell-ringing etc).
Previously worked on the social history of religion.

Funded Projects:
Recent funding from AHRC, Leverhulme and British Academy for work on popular music.

Current Teaching:
Popular culture in early modern England; also a 1st year course on the Spanish Armada.
