Salary: £31,331 to £45,941 per annum plus £2,323 per annum London Allowance
The Department wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Early Modern English Literature to contribute to teaching at BA and MA level across a range of programmes, to assist with the administration of these programmes and the pastoral care of students, to undertake research and publication and to participate in the research culture of the Department. The post is designed to cover for maternity leave.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of early modern scholars in the Department of English and the London Shakespeare Centre. In addition to a lively menu of undergraduate modules in early modern literature, this group also convenes two established and popular MA programmes, each of which is offered in partnership with an external institution: the MA in Early Modern English Literature: Text and Transmission (with the British Library) and the MA in Shakespeare Studies: Text and Playhouse (with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre).
The postholder will be required to teach a range of BA modules on a variety of Early Modern texts, including Shakespeare, and MA modules (including a module on literary and non-literary genres). S/he will be encouraged to participate in and lead research activities in the area of early modern literary studies, in association with the London Shakespeare Centre.
The post will be based at the King’s Strand Campus, Kingsway Building.
