Applications are invited for a position in the History of Early Modern Europe at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2014. Candidates’ research and teaching should focus on continental Europe in the period from 1450 to 1750. Areas of specialization are open, although the Department encourages candidates whose research and teaching specialization lies in social and/or cultural history to apply.

 Required qualifications include a completed PhD in History or in a related discipline and an active program of research in the area of specialization. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, to have a record of excellence in scholarly research including publications appropriate to their stage of career, and to have established themselves as part of an international network of scholars in their field. Candidates should be prepared to teach a wide range of courses in early modern European history at all levels and to make a major contribution to the Graduate Program in History. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
