Stipendiary Lecturership in Classics,
Ancient History,
University of Oxford.

Applications are invited for a Stipendiary Lecturership in Ancient History, tenable for seven months from January 2014. The appointment is to fulfil teaching needs arising from a period of sabbatical leave by Dr Lisa Kallet, the Tutorial Fellow in Ancient History at University College, and is non-renewable.

The appointee will be required to provide up to six hours of teaching per week for the college during the eight weeks of full term, averaged over the two terms, which will include Mods, Lit. Hum. finals and Classical Archaeology and Ancient History and Ancient and Modern History prelims revisions, and to participate in the pastoral care of students and the administration of the subject in the college, including organising external tuition where needed and marking college examinations. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in Ancient History or be close to obtaining one, and will have a record of successful teaching at the undergraduate level.

The stipend of the post will be in the range of £16,511 – £18,569 p.a. (pro rata for 7 months), plus a number of college benefits.
