Employment: Assistant Professor in the History of the Ancient World, University of Minnesota

The Department of History at the University of Minnesota, Duluth has a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the History of the Ancient World to begin 25 August 2014. Specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research focuses on the Mediterranean world including Greece and/or Rome, trans-regional connections, Egypt and/or Northeast Africa, and/or Indian Ocean networks. Training and/or experience in museums or public history a plus.  Essential qualifications include: Ph.D. or equivalent in History, Classics or related field from a regionally accredited university (doctorate must be in hand by 1 July 2014), demonstrated ability in relevant languages, demonstrated teaching experience (T.A. experience is acceptable), demonstrated potential for research and publication, excellent written communication skills, and an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
