Soran University, a young and ambitious university in Kurdistan is offering a unique and challenging opportunity for a lecturer to join its teaching staff in the Faculty of Arts for the academic year 2014-2015. Soran is based in the mountainous Northern region, two hours from the capital, Erbil.

The Faculty of Arts is seeking to appoint a lecturer for English Literature, preferably with a specialisation in drama (Shakespeare to Modern Drama). The contract is for 1 year with the potential to renew at the end of the contract term.

Successful candidates will hold a PhD or be very near to completion and have relevant teaching experience. As well as teaching specialised academic modules, the post-holders will be expected to be flexible and willing to teach other modules as directed. You may also be asked to contribute to teaching at Masters level and will be expected to undertake relevant administration including: preparation of courses; design and delivery of a suitable programme of learning; examination preparation and marking; additional duties as required. An important part of the role also involves mentoring and developing members of the existing teaching team.

Candidates will have the ability to undertake research to add to the growing number of international research papers being published from Soran University.

Benefits include: tax free salary (up to $36,000 or equivalent IQD), free accommodation, all utilities paid, one return flight per annum, two months holiday, July & August, paid per year, plus national holidays.
