The Department of History at the University of Maine invites applications for a one-year fixed-length, non-tenure appointment as Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the field of Early Modern or Modern Europe, effective September 1, 2014. Academic rank at appointment to be determined based upon educational attainment, qualifications, and experience.
The teaching load is three courses per semester, and includes responsibility for courses in France, the European Civilization survey, and specialized undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s field of interest. A Ph.D. in History is required by the date of hire for appointment as Assistant Professor. Applicants for Lecturer must have completed their comprehensive examinations and be making substantial progress toward completion of their dissertation. Demonstrated successful college teaching experience, evidence of scholarship, and excellent communication skills are also required.
