Temporary College Lecturer and Fellow in English Literature,
Applications are invited for the post of College Lecturer and Fellow in English Literature at Queens’ College, Cambridge. The appointment, funded by the Newton Trust as a temporary (sabbatical) replacement for Dr Andrew Zurcher, is for a period of 1 year with effect from 1 October 2015. It is not renewable.
The post is intended to provide a scholar and teacher of outstanding potential with an opportunity to pursue research, and gain teaching and administrative experience, early in their academic career. The successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduates for the English Tripos, and to direct studies in Part I. The successful candidate will complement the teaching interests of the current Fellows. She or he will be expected to supervise for the Renaissance and Shakespeare papers for Part I, and to contribute to teaching for the Part II Tragedy paper. She or he will also participate in the admission of undergraduates and some admissions/outreach activities in English.
The successful applicant will have completed a PhD before the commencement of the post, will be a scholar and teacher of outstanding potential, and will be active in research.
The successful candidate will be elected to an Official Fellowship of the College, with which further obligations and privileges are associated, and the appointment is subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the College.
The post carries a basic salary in the range of £31,342 – £33,242 per annum, plus an additional payment for acting as Director of Studies. The stipend will be pensionable under the USS scheme. In the course of the 20-week teaching year the successful candidate will be expected to supervise 12 hours per week.
