PhD Funding Opportunities in Early Modern History at the University of Limerick

1) PhD Teaching Fellowship in Early Modern German History.

The Department of History, University of Limerick, is offering one full-time PhD Teaching Fellowship in Early Modern German History.

Proposals for projects in the following areas are particularly encouraged: history of education, print culture, Reformation history, urban history. Candidates should have completed or be in the process of completing a Masters degree in History or in a relevant discipline. Advanced reading knowledge of German is required. The duration of the award is for a maximum of three years commencing September 2016. The continuation of the award after the first year will be subject to a successful review of progress. The award will take the form of a tax free stipend of €15,000 per annum plus a waiver of EU fees to the value of €4,321 per year. The recipients of the full-time bursary will lead tutorials with undergraduate students up to a maximum of six hours per week during teaching semester.

Applicants for the PhD Teaching Fellowship should also submit a detailed proposal in not more than 1,500 words in addition to the University’s application form.

2) Three-Year PhD Fee Waivers.

In conjunction with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of History is offering two three-year fee-waivers only in any area of post-1500 History (http://www.ul.ie/ULH/people). Recipients of the fee waivers will lead tutorials with undergraduate students to a maximum of three hours a week.
