University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada): Head – Art History, Visual Art, and Theory

Head, Art History, Visual Art, and Theory – We invite applications for the position of Head of the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory, to begin 1 July 2009.

The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of full Professor, must demonstrate high quality teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and must have a distinguished record of research in visual art or art history, with a strong commitment to both. S/he will have vision and creativity as a leader, administrator, and advocate for the department. The Head is responsible for recruiting and evaluating faculty, developing scholarly initiatives, and overseeing the educational programs and the budget. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Art History, Visual Art, and Critical Curatorial Studies, and is associated with the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery and the Museum of Anthropology.
